Devan Dubnyk names his top 3 NHL goalies of all time.
The former National Hockey League goaltender made a case for the 3 best goalies ever.
When discussing the greatest of all time in just about every sport there will always be room for debate, even when there is a clear favorite you will always have contrarians who try and insert a different opinion into the conversation. It is one thing though to have a group of fans make a claim as to who the greatest of all time is and another matter entirely when the comments are coming from another player.
Over the weekend former National Hockey League goaltender Devan Dubnyk was a guest on the NHL Network and it was during his appearance there that he was asked to name his top 3 goalies of all time. The first 3 names on the list will likely come as little surprise to anyone as they usually tend to be the first two names on everyone's lips when this topic comes up, but the third name may be more of a curveball for some.
Dubnyk's pick for number one was none other than New Jersey Devils legend Martin Brodeur, with Dubnyk citing his 691 career wins as the primary reason for Brodeur earning the top spot.
Up next he had legendary Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche goaltender Patrick Roy at the number two spot, with Roy earning those honors because of his playoff heroics, including an improbable 3 Conn Smythe trophy wins as a goaltender.
And last but certainly not least, Dubnyk awarded the number three spot on his list to the only active player on the list, Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc Andre Fleury. Dubnyk again leaned on the number of wins Fleury has had over his career, with 544 wins so far for Fleury, a total that he will be adding to this season no doubt.
