On Saturday, the Red Wings officially announced that they had come to terms with veteran forward J.T. Compher. The Red Wings and Compher have agreed on a five year deal worth a whopping $25.5 million, which works out to an average annual value and salary cap hit of $6.1 million per season.
Compher put up 17 goals and added 35 assists for a total of 52 points in 82 games last season with the Colorado Avalanche and has previously won a Stanley Cup championship as a member of the Avalanche.
Selected in the second round (35th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres, Compher has never played for any NHL team other than the Avalanche prior to signing this deal.
