Earlier on Wednesday, we shared a report and a video showing Philadelphia Flyers interim GM Daniel Briere’s oldest son Carson tossing a wheelchair down a flight of stars at a party. No one was sitting in the wheelchair as the woman using had gotten out and the wheelchair was at the top of the stairs because its owner needed to be carried downstairs to the bathroom.
Briere is in the white hat on the footage. After mocking the chair, he and a friend push it down the set of stairs. The video was originally posted by Julia Zukowski and got several million views on Twitter.
Later on Wednesday, Daniel Briere, who is focused on taking on the Flyers’ rebuilding in order to earn the job on a permanent basis, released a statement on his son’s actions, per Michael Russo of the Athletic.
Carson also expressed his regrets for his “behaviour” and “serious lack of judgement.
Carson Briere currently plays for Mercyhurst University men’s hockey team and the school released a statement, calling the video disturbing . They also have student conduc and the police and safety department investigating. Before the incident, Carson Briere had collected five goals and 13 points in 30 games with Mercyhurst University.
He is likely to be punished by the school… and his father.
