The Detroit Red Wings are in a serious funk right now, and during their latest loss on Saturday night, they suffered extra insult to injury when forward Michael Rasmussen took a shot right off the hand and immediately left the ice that led directly to the game-winning goal from Jonathan Marchessault, his second of the game.
It immediately reminded fans of what happened on two separate occasions last year to now-former Red Wings forward Tyler Bertuzzi, who broke both of his hands in separate shot blocking incidents. However, the positive news is that it looks like Rasmussen isn't suffering any major ill effects from what looked like a potentially serious injury.
Jonathan Mills of the official Red Wings website reported earlier today that Rasmussen was skating today ahead of Detroit's departure for Buffalo:
"Michael Rasmussen is skating at Monday’s #LGRW practice at City National Arena in Las Vegas. He left in the third period of Saturday’s game against the Golden Knights with an undisclosed injury. Detroit will conclude its road trip in Buffalo on Tuesday."
