The Toronto Maple Leafs got some bad news on Saturday when it was revealed that star forward Auston Matthews would once again be forced to the sidelines by the same injury that sidelined him earlier in the season. Matthews has now missed a total of 10 games this season as a result of that injury and his absence was definitely felt during a lopsided 6-3 loss at the hands of the New York Islanders on Saturday night.

As you might have expected, Leafs head coach Craig Berube was asked about Matthews' latest injury following the conclusion of that game and Berube did his best to provide some insight into Matthews' injury woes.

"Nothing right now," said Berube before the first reporter to inquire had even finished his question.

Berube was then asked about whether or not he was concerned that the injury could continue to nag Matthews throughout the season considering the fact that this is the same injury that has limited his ability to play this season.

"I mean I'm not a doctor," said Berube. "I can't answer that question."

Like many fans of the team, it sounds like Berube is hoping the timing of this latest bit of bad news will give Matthews additional time to recover over the holidays, hopefully for good this time.

"I'm hoping here with the break coming up that he can get some relief, feel better, be ready to go, recharge, that's really all I can say about it," concluded Berube.

That of course is no guarantee from the head coach and there has already been some doubt cast about whether or not Matthews will be available for Monday's game against the Winnipeg Jets. Should Matthews miss that game, the Leafs won't play again until the 27th when they take on Atlantic Division rivals the Detroit Red Wings.
