From NHL insider Elliotte Friedman:
I'm going to assume that Friedman means 'Anthony' and not 'Alex'?

This just in, the Utah Hockey Club has claimed defenseman Dakota Mermis off of waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Additionally, the Edmonton Oilers have placed Travis Dermott on waivers and the Winnipeg Jets have placed forward Henri Nikkanen on unconditional waivers for mutual contract termination.
From NHL insider Frank Seravalli:
Dermott essentially lost his 7th defenseman position with the Oilers after the team claimed defenseman Alex Regula from the Boston Bruins earlier this week. It's expected that Dermott will be assigned to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors if he clears waivers tomorrow.
As for Nikkanen, he has yet to play an NHL game in his professional career and it's expected that he'll return to his native Finland to continue his pro career once he clears waivers tomorrow.
It's also worth noting that Leafs forward Alex Nylander cleared waivers and will now be assigned to the AHL's Toronto Marlies.
