Craig Berube considers heartbreaking move ahead of tomorrow’s game in St. Louis
He cannot do this! See what could happen if coach Berube makes this call:
After practice on Friday, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube told reporters that he was still talking over the decision on which goalie would get the start against the Blues in St. Louis on Saturday night.
That had to be rough to hear for netminder Joseph Woll. St. Louis is his hometown and he has never gotten the chance to play there before. When Mark Masters pointed it out to Berube, this was the coach’s heartbreaking but honest answer:
“We always consider those things. They’re not the No. 1 most important thing … It is part of the conversation.”
What’s sad is that after practice, Woll spoke with reporters and mentioned how he anticipates an emotional homecoming, adding that his mother will be a ‘nervous wreck’. However, the fact remains that Berube takes into account the fact that Woll is from Missouri but it’s not the ultimate decider on who will get the nod.
It would be heartbreaking if Woll does not get the start. That’d almost be a Mike Babcock move for the new Maple Leafs head coach…
