Court documents reveal new details about the alleged 2018 Hockey Canada sexual assault.
This story gets even more bizarre.
Hockey Canada has been at the center of controversy for some time now over its handling of an alleged sexual assault that took place following an event in 2018, one that allegedly involved several players from the 2018 World Juniors team.
Just this week Hockey Canada announced a new board as part of its efforts to restructure the organization after what has been a major scandal for the Hockey Canada brand, but unfortunately for Hockey Canada the controversy doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon.
A new report from Robyn Doolittle of The Globe and Mail has uncovered a court filing dated Oct. 17th in which new details about the alleged sexual assault from 2018 have emerged.
There are a number of bizarre and disturbing details in this court filing that have not been made public before, including the allegation that someone at Hockey Canada gave one of the players allegedly involved in the sexual assault a warning once an investigation into their actions had gotten underway.
The most bizarre detail however was the revelation that the victim alleges an older, well-dressed man was hanging around the group of players buying them rounds and that this man even poured a shot into her mouth himself, and instructed her to "take care of" the player she was dancing with.
The court document also reveals that the alleged victim in this claims that one of the players involved in the alleged sexual assault, identified only as 'Player 1', repeatedly tried to convince her he was someone else by insisting his name was something other than what he was being referred to as by his group of friends.
The document, a 94 page court filing authored by Sergeant David Younan, indicates that police investigators in London, Ontario believe they have reasonable grounds to believe that five members of the 2018 World Junior hockey team sexually assaulted a woman in a hotel room. In spite of this fact, no charges have been filed against anyone alleged to have been involved at this time.
