Sean Avery's Instagram stories have not disappointed during the Stanley Cup final, but we are wondering if this one will.
On Tuesday night, the controversial former NHLer reported on his Instragram account that "per his sources in Toronto, Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri has been traded for Winnipeg Jets’ defenseman Jacob Trouba."
For the past few days, it has been reported that there was interest on both sides for this specific trade, however, no insider was even close to saying that a deal was in motion at that time.
However, Avery reports that one of his many sources say the deal is done and an announcement should come soon.
Kadri, of course, has been a lightning rod for criticism this postseason as many Leafs fans feel his suspension in round one against the Boston Bruins was ultimately the team’s downfall. It’s the second postseason in a row in which Kadri has lost his cool and hurt his team, so you can’t blame Leafs fans for piling on the 28 year old centre.
With two 30+ goal seasons in his back pocket and a team friendly $4.5 million cap hit, many expected a trade to take place this summer, however, this might be sooner than first expected.
It remains to be seen if this deal will be confirmed by one of the team or an insider closer to the Maple Leafs. But you know what they say: where there’s smoke, there’s fire…
