Controversial penalty call in the third period of Game 1.

The Edmonton Oilers were on the wrong side of a controversial call in Game 1.

The Edmonton Oilers were on the wrong side of a controversial penalty call in Game 1, one that could very well have influenced the outcome of this game given how it played out.

During the third period the Oilers were called for a delay of game when Oilers defenseman Jake Walman launched the puck up and over the glass, a questionable decision from Walman who had already taken a penalty earlier in the third period. Walman however was convinced that the puck had bounced off the puck of the glass, and as it turns out so were the Oilers.

The Oilers would challenge the ruling on the ice which would result in a lengthy video review from the National Hockey League officials on the ice but, despite some angles that did make it look like the puck may have indeed touched the glass, the call was upheld and the Oilers were awarded a second penalty for failing the coach's challenge.

It is important to note that there must be conclusive video evidence to overturn a call on the ice, and this one was about as close as it gets.

Here is a look at what was the best angle of the puck going out of play that we were shown during the broadcast of Game 1:

What did you think of this one? Did the officials get it right? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
