It's all over! Carolina is the first team onto the second round!

It's all over!

Thanks to a controversial penalty call in Double Overtime the Carolina Hurricanes are moving on to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs!

New Jersey Devils forward Dawson Mercy clipped Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi with a high stick and was sent to the sin bin to serve a 4 minute double-minor penalty... in Double Overtime.

A tough break for a team that had a 3-0 lead and a 4-3 lead in this game.

Goaltender Jacob Markstrom was absolutely unbelievable in the second half of the game, amassing 40 consecutive saves before Sebastian Aho was able to end the game and the season for the Devils.

And just like that, the Hurricanes are the first team to advance to the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
