The Edmonton Oilers host the Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Place this evening for a pivotal Pacific Division matchup.
The two teams are deadlocked at 68 points but it's the Oilers who hold the advantage in points percentage. As a result the Oilers are hanging on to the third playoff spot in the Pacific, while the Kings hold down the 1st Western Conference Wild Card playoff spot. The team are 1-1 in their season series so far and every point matters as we head down the stretch toward the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
So, with all that in mind you would think that Oilers captain Connor McDavid would be his usual stoic self with gameday reporters, right? Nope, think again. McDavid was noticeably jovial with reporters today and even joked about his recent run of assists, saying that he's given up scoring goals now.
Check it out:
Honestly, I love when McDavid shows off a bit of his sense of humor like this. It breaks up the grind of a long season, especially in late February when we're in peak 'dog days' of the season.
