Connor Bedard’s frustration reaches new level and lands him in massive trade rumours!
Insiders had to address the chatter in Chicago before it got out of hand. Full story below:
I feel like everyone believes that Connor Bedard deserves better. Unfortunately for him, his efforts have not allowed the Chicago Blackhawks to make improvements from last season as they sit 31st in the league, with just one more win than the last place San Jose Sharks.
In recent weeks, we’ve seen how Bedard’s frustration has reached a new level with him getting multiple 10-minute misconducts and it also added more fuel to the fire of all the latest trade rumours linked to the star forward.
In a recent Blackhawks Breakaway Podcast, Pat Boyle and Charlie ran a discussion regarding Bedard, looking to dismiss the chatter regarding his departure from Chicago. Roumeliotis tackled the rumours that Bedard wants out after two seasons with the team that selected him first overall in 2023, commenting:
“I see, sometimes you see the fans, like hockey fans are saying, ‘Oh, if the Hawks keep losing, Connor Bedard is going to request a trade or whatever.’ And they get so flippant with that,” Roumeliotis said. “But then you hear what Connor saying, like, I love this city. I love being a part of this team, the logo, whatever.
“And then he says, you know, when we’re winning, where it’s going to be something that we look back on and laugh. So, like that. You know, hopefully, that squashed all of the talk, because it just seems like outside noise at this point.”
Bedard did comment on the air in a one-on-one interview with Tony Granato on CHSN ahead of Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings how he loved Chicago.
But I’m not sure the very corporate interview has convinced fans that he does not want out and the chance to play for a real contender sooner rather than later…
Back in January, the Hawks’ struggles had prompted former NHL head coach and Sportsnet panelist Rick Bowness to suggest a significant trade scenario for the Blackhawks to consider, claiming how Chicago needed to find Bedard’s own Leon Draisaitl as he argued that Oilers’ Connor McDavid always had that chance in Edmonton, while Bedard doesn’t have another star forward to play with. There is the idea of going after pending free agent wingers that could test the market, hinting at Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
But I do believe that Bedard will stay put in Chicago in the near future and can only hope for him that management will get him some top players to get the Hawks back on track, and possibly, a smile back on Bedard’s face…
