The Pittsburgh Penguins have added some depth in training camp.

On Saturday, the Penguins officially announced that they had signed former Ottawa Senators first round pick (21st overall) Colin White to a professional tryout offer. This is likely an indication that White, who most recently played for the Florida Panthers, was unable to secure himself an NHL contract as an unrestricted free agent this summer.

This move will give the Penguins some additional depth at the forward position when they begin training camp on September 21st, and potentially further into the season as well should White earn himself an NHL contract off the back of his PTO.

White appeared in 68 regular season games for the Florida Panthers last season, scoring 8 goals and adding 7 assists for a total of 15 points, and he added an additional 21 games of playoff experience to that total where he scored no goals and picked up 2 assists.

White was originally selected at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and has appeared in a total of 292 NHL games since then, with 44 goals and 69 assists to his name, a total of 113 NHL points thus far.
