Cody Glass gets emotional in behind the scenes interview with GM David Poile

Hard not to pull for this kid. He's been through a lot already in his young career.

This season the NHL is going behind the scenes with the Nashville Predators, airing snippets and full length episodes of the team's on ice and off ice activities, similar to how the Toronto Maple Leafs were profiled by Amazon Prime two seasons ago.

Personally, I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff going all the way back to HBO's 24/7 series. In fact, nothing has quite lived up to the 24/7 series, but I still watch each and every version of these 'behind the scenes' type shows whenever they're released.

Today, the NHL released a particularly great clip of young Preds forward Cody Glass in an emotional interview with GM David Poile. Glass, who has been through the ringer so far in his NHL career, spent the majority of last season in the AHL with the Predators' AHL affiliate Milwaukee Admirals. He arrived in Nashville via a trade with the Vegas Golden Knights and managed to suit up in just eight games for the Preds last season. To put things bluntly, the 23 year old former 6th overall pick is very quickly headed toward "make or break" territory. He's had a good preseason so far this year though and is hoping to make a full-time roster spot with the Preds out of training camp. Earlier this week GM David Poile delivered the good news that he has indeed made the team (for now) and would be traveling with them to Switzerland for the NHL Global Series games.

Absolutely love this.

It's clear that this kid has been working his tail off and grateful for the good news. You can see it in his face, you can hear it in his voice. He's been fighting for a fair shot for three seasons now and it finally looks like he's gonna get it. Hard not to cheer for a kid like that. Especially when you consider his Draft pedigree and the fact that he was selected over current NHL stars like Nick Suzuki, Josh Norris and Robert Thomas. Again, hard not to cheer for the kid. Here's hoping he rips it up this season.
