The Vancouver Canucks were busy on the opening day of free agency, singing a number of players to new contracts for the upcoming season and beyond.
The Canucks have signed veteran defenseman Ian Cole to a 1 year deal that carries an average annual value of $3 million. Cole is coming off a season with the Tampa Bay Lightning that saw him record 3 goals and 14 assists for 17 points over 78 regular season games. He was even better in the playoffs with a goal and 2 assists for a total of 3 points over just 6 games with the Lightning.
Blueger was a member of the Stanley Cup winning Golden Knights this past season and will therefore be bringing championship experience with him to Vancouver. Blueger split his time between the Golden Knights and Pittsburgh Penguins last season, finishing with a total of 4 goals and 12 assists for a total of 16 points over 63 games.
Last but not least the Canucks have signed defenseman defenseman Carson Soucy, with Soucy earning the most lucrative deal of the 3. Soucy's new deal will carry an average annual value of $3.25 million and it is a 3 year deal. The 28 year old defenseman is coming of a solid season with the Seattle Kraken that saw him record 3 goals and add 13 assists for a total of 16 points in 78 games.
