Canucks gets some brutal injury news on goalie Thatcher Demko
This guy just can't stay healthy... are the Canucks cooked this season?
According to a report from Vancouver Canucks insider Ben Kuzma, the team will be without goaltender Thatcher Demko for their upcoming five game round trip. In fact, Demko is out week to week with an unspecified injury.
Demko has been in and out of the lineup for nearly a calendar year now due to ongoing injury issues. Most recently he pulled himself from the lineup in the Canucks' win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on February 8th.
Backup Kevin Lankinen has been an unexpected but very pleasant surprise for the Canucks this season, with Lankinen already appearing in 33 games this season and recording a 2.57 goals against average and a .904 save percentage along the way. That being said losing your number one goaltender to a potential injury is never ideal.
Demko has played just 17 games for the Canucks so far this season, yielding the crease to Lankinen for 34 games.
