Canucks focus on another trade with division rival!
Following last night’s trade, it smells like another move could be in the cards.

On Tuesday night, the Vancouver Canucks traded forward Anthony Beauvillier to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a conditional 2024 fifth-round pick. He can become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Kevin Weekes believes the Canadian team isn’t done yet. Vancouver managed to move Beauvillier without having to retain a single dime of his $4.15 million cap hit this season. The insider therefore pointed out that the Canucks are now one of the many teams interested in acquiring Calgary Flames defenseman Nikita Zadorov, who’s been on the trade block for the past several weeks.
Zadorov recently stunned fans with a trade request not long after having been contemplating a contract extension. When it was made clear that the Russian blue liner wanted out, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the Canucks are a team interested in adding him to their roster. CHEK-TV’s Rick Dhaliwal even called Zadorov Vancouver’s “No. 1 target.”
However, it can’t say I see the Flames being thrilled to handle business and trade with division rivals Canucks when it comes to any of their defensemen, including Zadorov, who carries a $3.75 million cap hit; his contract expires this summer.
There is a chance however that Zadorov’s agent, Dan Milstein, could be tempted to hear what Vancouver has to say since he also represents Canucks forwards Andrei Kuzmenko and Ilya Mikheyev.
Vancouver sits second in the Pacific Division with a 15-7-1 record and even Zadorov could be interested in joining the team out West.
Though Flames general manager Craig Conroy did previously mention he was in no hurry to move Zadorov or any of his pending free agent defensemen, this is one rumour we need to keep an eye on...
