Cam Talbot 'likely on the move' after turning down extension.
Talbot is done in Ottawa.
It appears as though Cam Talbot's time as a member of the Ottawa Senators will be short lived.
Although the Senators played savior when they acquired Talbot from the Minnesota Wild after Talbot and newly appointed Wild general manager Bill Guerin didn't see eye to eye on who should be the Wild's #1 goaltender, it would seem as though Talbot has seen enough of Ottawa after just 29 appearances for the team over the course of this regular season.
A report from Bally Sports' Andy Strickland has indicated that Talbot is likely to be moved by the Senators, presumably ahead of the March 3rd trade deadline, after the veteran goaltender reportedly turned down a contract extension from the Sens.
Talbot is currently in the final year of a 3 year deal he signed with the aforementioned Bill Guerin and the Minnesota Wild. That contract carries an average annual value and salary cap hit of $3.66 million and I would suspect that the Senators were hoping to get him at a cheaper number than that moving forward.
Talbot has had a rather pedestrian season with the Senators at 35 years of age, recording a 2.90 goals against average and a .905 save percentage over his 29 appearances for Ottawa this season.
