Bruins set 3 trade targets to land offensive boost!

Boston managed to get a statement win last night against the Nashville Predators, however, it is well-known that tougher opponents have shown the Bruins that additional scoring depth might be needed to a have long playoff run. 

Bruins insider Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports suggested ahead of Tuesday’s game that the Bruins need additional scoring depth, pointing out there’s a problem with consistent offense beyond the top line of Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, and David Pastrnak, averaging just 2.6 goals per game during their15-game stretch. 

Haggerty believes Bruins general manager Don Sweeney might be focusing his search on three trade targets ahead of the deadline on Feb. 24. 

“Maybe it’s Chris Kreider from the Rangers, or Tyler Toffoli from the L.A. Kings, or Kyle Palmieri from the New Jersey Devils, but it’s clear the B’s need them sooner rather than later,” wrote Haggerty.

Sweeney hasn’t been afraid to make a couple of moves prior to the trade deadline to try and bolster his roster. As you may all remember, he acquired Rick Nash in 2018 and Charlie Coyle and Marcus Johansson before last season’s deadline. 

While there is very little chatter about the Devils looking to move Palmieri, who is signed through 2020-21 with an annual average value of $4.65 million, the Bruins might indeed set their sights on Kreider or Toffoli.

It remains to be seen what the Bruins will be willing to give up in return for the offensive boost they seek to finally get the Stanley Cup back in Boston.
