Bruins' Matt Poitras sends message to the Maple Leafs and their fans.
Boston Bruins forward Matt Poitras may have just made himself public enemy #1 in Toronto.
There may be a new public enemy in the city of Toronto, and it is entirely by design.
On Saturday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs will travel to the city of Boston to take on divisional rivals the Boston Bruins on Saturday night and there they will face a new look #2 line from the Bruins. The Bruins have been deploying forwards Matt Poitras, Brad Marchand and Charlie Coyle on their second line and will do so again on Saturday night, a big game for one member of that line in particular.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the game on Saturday, Bruins forward Matt Poitras had a special message for the Maple Leafs and the fans in the city of Toronto.
"I was kind of a Leafs fan growing up so I wanna be my best and beat the Leafs," said Poitras on Saturday.
Potras is from Southern Ontario and admitted that the majority of his friends and family, all of whom he believes will be watching tonight, are Maple Leafs fans. That however it would seem will only serve to fuel his motivation to beat the Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
"All my buddies are Leafs fans so I'm sure they will all be watching," admitted Poitras. "All my friends are Leafs fans, whole family friends a lot of them are Leafs fans.
"Knowing friends and family are watching, obviously you wanna go out there and do your best."
Whether or not Poitras will be able to play spoiler for all of the Maple Leafs fans in his friend group, and in his family, remains to be seen. Be sure not to miss tonight's game which will kick off at 7 pm EST.
