Bruins make major roster move after ugly loss on Friday.
The Boston Bruins have called for reinforcements after an ugly loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
It would seem that an ugly loss at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets may prove to be the catalyst for a move that some fans of the Boston Bruins have been begging for since the very start of the 2024-25 National Hockey League regular season.
On Friday night the Bruins suffered a 6-2 loss at the hands of the Blue Jackets, one that saw captain Brad Marchand get abused with a low blow in the late stages of the game, and now the Bruins have called up what most consider to be their top prospect to the main roster in what appears to be a response to that loss.
In an official announcement, the Bruins confirmed that they were bringing forward Fabian Lysell up from the American Hockey League for what is likely to be his NHL debut. No official announcement has been made regarding whether or not Lysell will be in the lineup tonight, but it seems likely that we will see him hit the ice sooner rather than later.
Update: The Bruins have now officially confirmed that Lysell will indeed make his debut tonight.
"He's gonna make his debut tonight, he'll be in the lineup," confirmed Bruins head coach Joe Sacco. "He's played well in Providence, talking to the coaching staff down there and management, they feel he deserves an opportunity."
Lysell has indeed been performing well at the american Hockey League level with 5 goals and 12 assists for a total of 17 points over 26 games with the Providence Bruins. It remains to be seen how much of a leash he will get at the NHL level, but that will likely depend on how well the Bruins coaching staff feels he adapts to the NHL game.
