That will be some salt in the wound.

Following the 1st round postseason exit by the Boston Bruins at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes last season, the team made the call to terminate head coach Bruce Cassidy after several years on the job that also included coming within a single victory of the Stanley Cup in 2019.
It wouldn't be long before Cassidy landed a new gig, taking over as head coach for the Vegas Golden Knights. Meanwhile, the Bruins hired former Dallas Stars bench boss Jim Montgomery, and proceeded to re-write the NHL record books with an astounding 65 victories this season. But as they say, the regular season means nothing when it comes to the postseason, and Boston found that out the hard way in the form of a four games to three heartbreaker against the eventual Eastern Conference champion Florida Panthers in Round 1.
As fate would have it, Cassidy and the Golden Knights would face the Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final, which culminated in a rather easy four games to one series win. Last night's absolutely dominating 9-3 final at T-Mobile Arena sent Sin City into a frenzy, celebrating the city's first professional sports championship.
For Cassidy, he knows where he'll be taking the Stanley Cup when it comes for his personal day with the famed trophy, and it will be a bit of salt in the wounds of Bruins fans who are still stinging from not only their team's historic postseason meltdown, but by the fact that the coach they fired is now a champion just over a year later.
“The Cup is going to the Cape!" Cassidy exclaimed shortly after his team's victory.
He then continued by stating the fact that he can't get "kicked out" now that he's forever a winner.
“It’s great to be in this club," he said. "You’re a winner now forever so they can’t kick you out so I love that feeling.”
Bruins fans, did Boston make a mistake by removing Cassidy as head coach last year?
