A young member of the Detroit Red Wings has received some huge news.
According to an official announcement from the Red Wings' official website, forward Tyler Bertuzzi has been told to find permanent residence in the area as he will be remaining with the team for the long haul.
It's a great moment for the young forward and it seems his hard nosed play has been the primary factor for the team's decision to keep him around. Head coach Jeff Blashill has this to say:
"He does lots of things that I think translate to this level and translate to hard hockey and the deeper the year goes, that's why I think he's been a real good playoff performer in GR (Grand Rapids)," Blashill said. "I don't think he was going to be somebody that necessarily led the league in scoring in the American League, but it always seemed like the harder the hockey, the better he was."
In four games since being recalled Bertuzzi has found himself playing top line minutes and has picked up 3 assists along the way, it's clear that the Red Wings now see him as part of their future moving forward.
