Marchand’s social media game is ON lately! And you have to agree with him on this!

On Thursday night, the Oilers suffered a 6-0 humiliating loss at the hands of the Florida Panthers for their seventh consecutive defeat.Fans threw their jerseys on the ice… it was ugly. After opening the season 9-1, the Oilers have dropped out of the playoff picture with their record sitting at 18-16-2, but not sure throwing jerseys on the ice is a good message the fans want to send.

Especially when you consider Boston Bruins star forward Brad Marchand’s point. Upon seeing the jerseys onto the ice, Marchand got back on his social media game and bluntly commented on what this could mean for Oilers star players Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

“And fans will wonder why McDavid and Draisaitl don’t sign back there again”

Yeah, Marchand’s got a point…

We all saw how frustrated both players have been lately. After the 6-4 loss to the Ottawa Senators this past weekend, the captain couldn’t find the words when asked to evaluate what happened in the defeat.

“I wish I had an answer for you. We’ve talked it over and over and over again in that room and, obviously, we haven’t found an answer yet. That being said, we gotta show up, and we got three practices here before our next one, and we get back to work.”

As for Draisaitl, he was trending already this week when he got into it with reporter Jim Matheson. The star forward met with reporters to talk about his team’s ongoing struggles and losing streak, Matheson asked him what the Oilers needed to focus on in terms of improvement and Draisaitl got “pissy”, as Matheson himself put it.

But we can all understand his frustration. The Oilers’ playoff hopes are in doubt and when you have Draisaitl and McDavid on board, you have to be shaking your head.

Not sure the fans need to push ‘em out the door. I have to agree with Marchand here.
