Brad Marchand addresses rumours of ugly dispute with teammate David Pastrnak

Reports of locker room drama in Boston has led to Marchand saying this. See below:

A few weeks ago when Boston Bruins star forward David Pastrnak left a game against the Washington Capitals early due to an upper-body injury, Brad Marchand made light of the situation when he was asked about his teammate’s condition.

“Looks phenomenal naked. I saw him in the shower. Want me to go on?”

Marchand is known for his sense of humor and of course didn’t want to divulge any more information on Pastrnak’s injury and so he made a joke, reporters laughed and forgot about it.
Since then however, some people believe the humor used by Marchand was hiding something else. According to Rich Keefe of the Jones & Keefe show, the reason why the Bruins are struggling this season is because of Marchand and Pastrnak, adding that there is an ugly dispute between the two stars players similar to the kind of drama coming out of Vancouver over the past several weeks.

Keefe said: “First of all, what we can all see is that they’re a mess on the ice, right? They’ve lost six in a row. But what I’m hearing is they’re also a mess off the ice. Apparently, the locker room is a disaster.”
He added that Pastrnak is at the center of the dispute as he reportedly does not want to to be on a line with Marchand anymore.

On Friday Marchand had no other choice but to deny the crazy rumours when he commented on his relationship with David Pastrnak: “We’re best friends.”

Adds that any insinuations otherwise are “not based in fact.” He then laid into Keefe:

“I’m not going to let a random guy, come in the media and just spit absolute nonsense.

“I’m not going to let it become something. This guy can go pound sand and go back to the closet where no one knew who he was and report on nothing.”

While Keefe maintained that the coaching staff is even trying to break them up, Pastrnak also addressed the rumours on Friday saying:

“I’ve never in my life said I don’t want to play with this guy to the coaching staff or management and I never would. I love playing with Marchy. I’ve been playing with him for so long.”

I tend to believe both Marchand and Pastrnak on this. Sure, there is frustration in the dressing room in Boston as the Bruins are trying to keep their heads above water in the first Wild card playoff spot, but that would affect anyone, including top stars like them.

Let’s see in the next few weeks how things go in Boston, but I am not one to believe that we are having a Canucks-like situation in the Bruins’ dressing room.
