One of the National Hockey League's top insiders has returned to shed a bit of light on the Steven Stamkos situation.

Long time and semi-retired NHL insider Bob McKenzie took to social media in what have become increasingly rare instances of McKenzie sharing his insider knowledge. This time around McKenzie took to social media to reveal his belief that there are currently 'six or more' teams currently looking to acquire the services of free agent forward Steven Stamkos, the now former captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Although there are at least six teams in the running according to McKenzie, he has only been able to identify, or has only chosen to share, 5 of those names. According to McKenzie, the Nashville Predators, Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes, Detroit Red Wings and New Jersey Devils are all still working with Stamkos' agent Don Meehan in the hopes of getting a deal done.

It is unclear what kind of contract Stamkos will be seeking now that there appears to be no hope of a return to Tampa Bay, but with so many teams interested that price is no doubt being driven up.
