This just in, the Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that they have parted ways with rookie head coach Pascal Vincent.
From the Blue Jackets' official social media:
Vincent, of course, was thrust into the role of head coach just prior to the start of the 2023-24 season when Mike Babcock was unceremoniously dumped from his new position with the team. Vincent was supposed to be an assistant coach under Babcock, but after reports of Babcock invading his players' privacy, the decision was made to terminate Babcock's contract. Vincent stepped into the head coaching position and... well... he struggled mightily. The rookie head coach put together a 27-43-12 record this past season amidst reports that his players had tuned him out.
To be perfectly honest though, Vincent was put in an almost impossible position. Here's hoping he gets another shot at an NHL coaching job down the road.
