According to a report from NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Chicago Blackhawks are expected to announce that interim-GM Kyle Davidson has been hired as the team's full-time GM.
From Seravalli:
The Blackhawks teased the hiring yesterday on social media:
Davidson, of course, was always a frontrunner for the job but the team also interviewed several other NHL executives for the position.
Personally, I felt like Davidson might get the job all along. He has been with the team since 2010 and has worked his way up the ranks under former Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman. He'll officially become the youngest Blackhawks general manager ever, and, if you can believe it, just the 10th GM in franchise history.
The Blackhawks conducted an extensive interview process for its vacant position and shared public details of their GM search, which was led by former Blackhawks players Eddie Olczyk, Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp.
The group interviewed a wide list of potential candidates, including: Davidson, former Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli, Carolina Hurricanes assistant GM Eric Tulsky, former Montreal Canadiens and Vancouver Canucks assistant GM Scott Mellanby and Tampa Bay Lightning assistant GM Mathieu Darche. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman also reported that the Blackhawks interviewed Toronto Raptors (NBA) vice president Teresa Resch and Chicago Cubs (MLB) assistant GM Jeff Greenberg as well, yet the Blackhawks never made that news public.
