The score was tied at 2 after two periods in Thursday night’s game between the visiting Detroit Red Wings and the Los Angeles Kings. When it was time to head out to their respective dressing rooms at the end of the second frame, some pushing and shoving took place and, surprisingly, it led to an almost full bench clearing brawl, goalies in the mix, close to center ice.

It seems like it all started with Kings forward Adrian Kempe, who is believed to have shove Red Wings’ Moritz Seider.
Detroit’s young forward did not appreciate and slashed back at him, causing tempers to flare and everyone wanting to protect and defend their own teammate.

This is what it led to, with all officials attempting to break up the brawl and sending all players back to their quarters in order to get the second intermission underway:

All tempers had finally cooled when the third period got underway, though it remained a tight and intense matchup for the remaining 20 minutes. Seider ended up being the only player in the penalty box at the start of the third period for the scrum that took place prior to the intermission. He was sent out on a minor slashing penalty.

Extra time was needed as the game was finally won by the Red Wings 4-3 in a shootout, thanks to the winner by star veteran Patrick Kane.

The Kings ended up losing a fourth straight game and are now out of Los Angeles, heading out to Washington to face the Capitals in a six-game road trip.

As for the Red Wings, who finally snapped a six-game losing streak to Los Angeles, they are staying in Southern California to face the Ducks in Anaheim on Sunday.
