As the Detroit Red Wings work to get their roster down to the mandated amount of players, one notable figure has been released.
Veteran NHL forward Artem Anisimov, who agreed to a professional tryout prior to the start of training camp, has been released. This very well could signal the end of his efforts to return to the NHL.
Meanwhile, goaltender Michael Hutchinson's tryout remains active.
Anisimov last played in the NHL for the division rival Ottawa Senators in 2020-21. A veteran of 771 career NHL games, Anisimov has scored 180 goals and 196 assists during his time with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, and Senators. He spent last season with the Leigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League, scoring 19 goals with 17 assists.
