Another option lands on Kyle Dubas’ table!

After he was let go by Toronto and other options lined up, there is this one:

It was recently reported that former Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas was in touch with the Pittsburgh Penguins and even their captain Sidney Crosby about the GM job opening. However on Friday, Mike McKenna of Daily Face-off presented an other offer for Dubas.

It’s quite clear : the article in entitled “Dear Kyle Dubas: Take a year off.”

McKenna believes Dubas doesn’t need to rush in with another job, especially when he did mention the stress on his family during his run with the Maple Leafs.

“Only fools rush in. We’ve all heard that phrase. And it keeps coming to mind when I think of Kyle Dubas’ future in hockey.”

I tend to agree with McKenna. This was a shocking and somewhat messy divorce with the Maple Leafs. So reporters also say that Dubas could be more fitted as a team president or president of operations than he is a general manager. These are all things he needs to figure out and wouldn’t win to rush in with an answer. Especially when his answers to the end of the Maple Leafs’ season a few weeks ago was: that his 2023-24 gig “will either be (with the Toronto Maple Leafs), or taking time to recalibrate, reflect on the seasons here. But you won’t see me next week pop up elsewhere. I can’t put them through that after this year.”

Taking a year off is a new, and valid, option for Dubas at this time.
