Another NHL game in danger of cancelation over safety concerns.

After one NHL game was already cancelled, a second may now be in danger as well,

Dangerous weather patterns on the southeastern coast of the United States of American have already forced the National Hockey League to outright cancel one of the games they had on the schedule this week and now it sounds like a second game may also be in danger of meeting the same fate.

On Sunday night, the Florida Panthers were forced to make a very unfortunate announcement when they revealed that their plans for a ring ceremony to celebrate their 2024 Stanley Cup Championship would have to be called off over safety concerns related to Hurricane Milton which is expected to make its way through the state of Florida on its path back out to the Atlantic Ocean.

"As this event would take resources from first responders and service providers, we have made the tough decision to cancel our Champions Ring Ceremony out of an abundance of caution for the safety of all involved. We will instead distribute our championship rings privately," said Panthers CEO Matt Caldwell in a official statement.

First and foremost my hat goes off to the Florida Panthers for prioritizing the health and safety of their fans and fellow Floridians alike, as of course potential rescue efforts should definitely take priority over a ring ceremony. It is nonetheless a bummer for fans and players alike who were no doubt looking forward to seeing their championship team receive their reward for a terrific season.

The Panthers are set to take on the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night in what would be the opening game of the regular season for both franchises, but Caldwell admitted that the team is closely monitoring the situation as we get closer and closer to opening night.

"Along with state and local authorities, we are closely monitoring the situation," added Caldwell. "As of now, Opening Night vs. Boston is scheduled to proceed as intended and we will continue preparing our arena and surrounding areas to safely welcome guests for Opening Night."

As Caldwell says in the statement, the game remains set for Tuesday night at the time of this writing, but this will be a situation fans will want to monitor very closely if they do have plans to attend the season opener for the Panthers and the Bruins.

There are reports this morning that Hurricane Milton has quickly picked up steam, please be careful out there.
