After the embarrassing loss to the Sharks!

The Calgary Flames dropped another two points on Thursday night, this time to the league’s second-worst team, losing 6-3 at the hands of the San Jose Sharks, who were without star forwards Tomas Hertl and Logan Couture.
Calgary is already swarming with tons of trade chatter as defensemen Chris Tanev and Noah Hanifin are top trade baits ahead of the March 8 deadline, and another blue liner was suddenly added to the mix late in the night following the embarrassing loss to San Jose. That’s when insider Kevin Weekes mentions that, on top of Tanev and Hanifin, now Rasmus Andersson could be available on the market.
“I’m told another one of their D, Andersson is now drawing interest as well. Given his age, $4.5M AAV for 2 more years, he’s an attractive piece for potential suitors.”
Of course, Andersson is now starting to generate trade interest around the league. He carries a $4.5 million cap hit until the end of the 2025-26 season and therefore, he could be much more than just a rental for contenders interested in acquiring his services. He would be able to provide a significant boost on the right side of any team in need.
Known to be a top shot blocker in the league, Andersson has put up seven goals, 28 points, 121 blocks, and a plus-3 rating in 50 games this season.
While the Flames have not confirmed that they are officially looking to move Andersson, he could garner so much interest that he could get Calgary a significant return to help the team in its retooling process.
Before the game last night, Andersson had commented on the Flames handling constant trade talk surrounding the team, chatter that has been on-going as of late. And now he is shoved in the middle of it…
