Earlier during training camp in Toronto, the Maple Leafs dealt with an injury to signed defenseman Simon Benoit on Day 1. While he did return in a non-contact jersey on Tuesday, on Wednesday, there was another casulty during practice.
According to Mark Masters, it was announced that forward Dylan Gambrell suffered a concussion in practice yesterday and will be out for the foreseeable future.
Gambrell is a new comer to Toronto, having signed a one-year contract worth $775,000 a few days following the opening of free agency.
He skated in 60 games with the Ottawa Senators in 2022-23, recording four goals and six assists. In 233 career regular season NHL games with Ottawa (2021-22 to 2022-23) and San Jose (2017-18 to 2020-21), he registered 40 points (17 goals, 23 assists).
It remains to be seen when he’ll be able to suit back up for the Maple Leafs and rack up some points with them.
