Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin joined a very elite club on Saturday. The power-play marker Ovechkin scored, midway through the first period, was his 30th goal of the season. Ovechkin became the fifth player in NHL history to register 30 goals in his first 10 seasons. He joined Mike Gartner, Wayne Gretzky, Mike Bossy and Jari Kurri as the only players to have accomplished the feat. Ovechkin is known as a volume shooter and has consistently led the league in shots on goal. Ovechkin has averaged a 10.9% shooting percentage for a career. At 29 years old, Ovechkin is far from finished and could theoretically break Gartner's record of 15 straight seasons with 30+ goals. He is now leading the league in goals, one ahead of Rick Nash.
