The Vegas Golden Knights are on the verge of history, as they are only a single win away from their first ever Stanley Cup championship following Saturday night's nail biter of a victory over the Florida Panthers that came down to literally the final seconds.
It was an ugly ending to the game, as an all-out brawl took place after the final horn, with veteran defenseman Alex Pietrangelo narrowly escaping what would have been a 10 game suspension from the NHL due to leaving the penalty box to engage in the rough stuff.
However, the NHL would determine that no suspension was needed for Pietrangelo because of, in the words of NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, that he had been legally released from the box, and that he was also not considered be the aggressor.
And now, Pietrangelo is sharing his side of the story, stating that the NHL employee in the penalty box released him onto the ice.
Pietrangelo, who became the first ever player in St. Louis Blues history to raise the Stanley Cup, can earn a second championship ring tomorrow night at T-Mobile Arena in what will be an absolutely frenzied crowd in Sin City for the potential close-out Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final.
