There is no timetable for the return of Vegas Golden Knights’ Alex Pietrangelo. He’s no longer listed on the Golden Knights ‘roster, per the NHL media site and Cap Friendly, indicating he’s been placed on the non-roster list.
It is therefore safe to assume Pietrangelo will miss Vegas’ next few games at a minimum and will miss tonight’s matchup against the visiting New York Rangers. Pietrangelo’s absence will mark the fifth-straight game he has missed. The team previously stated that he is out of the lineup due to “personal reasons.”
Earlier today, the team explained the explained with the following statement: "Alex Pietrangelo is away from the team and will remain so indefinitely due to an illness in the family. The Vegas Golden Knights wholeheartedly support Alex and the Pietrangelos and ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this time."
Per Cap Friendly, the move of Pietrangelo onto the NHL non-roster list created a spot and cap space for the Jonas Røndbjerg recall. The Knights were 3-1 in Pietrangelo’s absence before Wednesday’s game against the Blue Shirts.
“We’re working with Alex and supporting him,” head coach Bruce Cassidy said before the game. “When he’s ready, he’ll come back.”
Bad news have emerged all at once in Vegas seeing that forward Jack Eichel is out as the result of a lower-body injury he’s dealing with, which the team reports to be a day-to-day matter.
Brett Howden, who is also nursing a lower-body injury, was placed on the team’s LTIR, retroactive to his last game (Nov. 23) which means he won’t be eligible to return until Dec. 17 vs NYI. But he hasn’t been skating yet.
