Alex Ovechkin wants to play alongside some of the best players in the entire world.

In some other North American sports leagues it has become something of a trend to see high profile athletes try and form superteams, teams in which they join forces with one or two fellow superstars in an effort to win a championship.

It is a trend that thankfully has not made its way to the National Hockey League just yet, but that doesn't mean that some of the players in the league don't dream about a moment where it could happen.

Recently Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was asked about the kind of players he would like to see added to his team. Although Ovechkin made it clear that adding players to the roster was not a part of his job description, he did name a pair of huge names he would like to play alongside of.

"Well it's not my job to say I want [Connor] McDavid or [Sidney] Crosby on my team," said Ovechkin when asked about additions to the roster.

When Ovechkin was pressed on the topic of Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby potentially joining a longtime Penguins rival in the form of the Washington Capitals, Ovechkin had a hilarious response.

"Yeah maybe," said Ovechkin smiling from ear to ear. "You should call him, you should call him."

No one in their right mind is going to blame Ovechkin for wondering what it would be like to play alongside two of the most talented players in the NHL today, especially one that he has such a long history with in Sidney Crosby. Unfortunately I think Ovechkin's dreams of playing alongside either one of those two will have to remain just a dream.
