For most fans of hockey that reside in the city of Montreal the Stanley Cup Final was a tough affair to witness. The hometown team, the Montreal Canadiens, was largely battered at the hands of a Tampa Bay Lightning team that simply looked better in every facet of the game, but for a few select fans in the city that was exactly what they had been hoping to see.
Lightning forward Alexander Killorn is a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning and although he was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia he spent many of his formative years growing up in Montreal's West Island in the town of Beaconsfield where his parents still reside to this day. Killorn's family and friends were of course cheering for him in spite of the fact that he was competing against the hometown Canadiens, and this week they were rewarded for their support when Killorn brought the Stanley Cup back to Montreal.
Although I suspect that most Canadiens' fans will be happy for Killorn and his family even in spite of their own disappointment at the outcome of the final, this next bit they might not be so quick to forgive Killorn for.
As I've already stated as part of his time with the Stanley Cup, Killorn made the decision to bring the cup back to Montreal to share it with his family. It would appear however that he took the time for a little detour to the heart of downtown Montreal with the trophy, where he posed for a photograph that will no doubt spark the ire of the Canadiens faithful.
You can see in the picture below, Killorn is proudly hoisting the Stanley Cup as high as he can above his head and only slightly higher than the cup itself is a sign that simply reads "Centre Bell." That is of course the Bell Center, the home of the Montreal Canadiens, and it might be one of the best attempts at trolling we see this offseason from a player in the NHL.
This is most certainly not the way that fans of the Canadiens were hoping to see the Stanley Cup return to the city.
