A travesty in the making in Florida...?!

Wait, what??? The Panthers can’t pay attention to this distraction ahead of the Stanley Cup final.

The Florida Panthers have reached the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1996, but there is different chatter going on about their run. On Friday, reports emerged that if goalie Sergei Bobrovsky is to lose the Conn Smythe to Matthew Tkachuk, it would be a travesty.

USA TODAY penned the article that reminds everyone how “Bobrovsky simply deserves the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP far more” than Tkachuk.

“Right now, with +200 odds, Bobrovsky is a heavy favorite to win the Conn Smythe with oddsmakers at DraftKings. Tkachuk slides in at No. 2. Even with the narrative of game-winning goals, it should stay this way because of how Bobrovsky has stymied opposing offenses by himself.”

A travesty in the making in Florida...?!

Bobrovsky is coming off a season where he posted a .901 save percentage and 3.07 goals-against average. He now has an incredible .935 save percentage on … 504 shots. He was crying when he realized the Panthers were moving on to the Stanley Cup final. Thanks to the game-winning goal by… Tkachuk.

On Wednesday, Tkachuk became the 29th player in NHL history to score three game-winning goals in a single playoff series by putting a dagger in the hopes of the Carolina Hurricanes.

I don’t get why this would be a problem. Or if it is, it’s a nice problem to have. Two star players playing their best and could get the Conn Smythe win. I’d want that on my team any day of the week and twice on Tuesday.

The Panthers benefit from it, and no matter who gets the Smythe amongst these two is no travesty at all in my book.
