Two killed outside Detroit Lions game

Murdered in cold blood over a football game...

Trevor Connors

Another day, another senseless killing in America.

Detroit Police Chief James White has confirmed that a second man has died as a result of injuries following a shooting outside a Detroit Lions football game on Sunday afternoon.

White told the media that a man in his 30s has been arrested following an altercation and shooting outside the Lions' Ford Field. A man in his 40s was killed immediately by gunfire while a man in his 20s was taken to hospital in critical condition. He died yesterday as a result of his injuries.

"It's a beautiful day and shouldn't have led to this, but it did and we're going to do what we do well and do the investigation and get it closed out and unfortunately, you got a family now who's going to have to deal with the loss of a loved one," White said.

Responding officers were directing traffic after the Detroit Lions game when the shooting happened. White said the man was taken into custody immediately.

"They were able to get him into custody quickly and recover two weapons from the scene and we're kind of piecing all of that together right now, but we do know we have the shooter," White said. "No one else is at risk. No one in the community. No one in this area is at risk."

White told media that the investigation is ongoing.
