Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander was on a torrid scoring streak earlier in the season, and all thoughts of him potentially playing elsewhere were officially put to rest when he agreed to a mammoth 8-year contract extension worth a total of $92 million.

However, things haven't gone as well for Nylander of late, as he's experiencing a frustrating scoring drought. He last lit the lamp against the New Jersey Devils on March 26, a span that has now reached eight games. He's also only registered a single assist in his last five outings.

"I mean, f—k I don't know how many games it's been since I scored," Nylander said. "It doesn't matter for me. What's coming up is the biggest part. But, as a player, you're always striving to be better, so you're not just happy with what you've done. You just want to do better."

"I think it's frustrating," Nylander continued. "Part of it, obviously it affects you in some way, but you just try and get out of it by working hard and working on what you need to get back going again."

However, it isn't as if Nylander hasn't been racking up the points this year. With an impressive 40 goals and 56 assists, he's already reached the career high in goals that he set last season.

"Sometimes you just gotta laugh about it," he said. "It is what it is."
