The carousel season for gritty Toronto Maple Leafs forward Wayne Simmonds has continued, as he's just been brought back up to the big club from the American Hockey League affiliate Toronto Marlies. This coincides with Toronto's decision to waive 4th line forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel on the same day.
According to Jonas Siegel of The Athletic, he'll be replacing Pontus Holmberg tomorrow night when the Maple Leafs host the NHL-best Boston Bruins at Scotiabank Arena for a critical Original 6 tilt.
Simmonds has skated in three games with the Leafs so far this season, collecting an assist along with two penalty minutes. In 1,022 career NHL games, he's scored a total of 263 goals and 262 assists, along with 1,268 penalty minutes.
