The Seattle Kraken have officially broken the ice.

On Saturday night Kraken defenseman Vince Dunn forever etched his name in the National Hockey League record books when he became the first player to ever score a goal at home in the history of the Kraken franchise. It looked as though fans in attendance were going to be witness to a scoreless first period, perhaps something that would have been somewhat disappointing for some of the new hockey fans in attendance, but in thrilling fashion Dunn would get his team on the board in the dying seconds of the first frame.

After a long battle for the puck behind the Vancouver Canucks net, the Kraken would emerge with the puck and with roughly 5 seconds on the clock Dunn would bury it past Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko.

As you would expect the goal sent the Kraken fans in attendance into an absolute frenzy, producing a very loud and very authentic reaction from the crowd. No doubt it was a feel good moment for everyone in attendance, and hopefully it can serve as a rallying point for the players as well who have struggled out of the gate this season.

It is also worth noting here that forward Joonas Donskoi and defenseman Adam Larsson will be joining Dunn in the record books as they were both credited with an assist on the play.
