Utah officially cuts ties with 3 of their players.
The Utah Hockey Club will officially cut ties with 3 of their players an insider has confirmed.
The Utah Hockey Club will be officially cutting ties with 3 of their players today in what will perhaps be the franchises first meaningful hockey transaction of any kind.
The news comes courtesy of Arizona Coyotes insider Craig Morgan, who it would seem still has his connections within the organization despite the move to Utah, who reported on Saturday that the Utah Hockey Club would not retain the rights of 3 former Coyotes draft picks.
All 3 players have their rights set to expire today, the 1st of June 2024, and according to Morgan the organization has no plans to extend any of the players an offer meaning that their rights will expire.
The 3 players in question are forward Filip Barklund of Sweden, selected in the sixth round (173rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry draft, forward Elliot Ekefjard of Sweden who was selected in the seventh round (192nd overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and defenseman Jeremy Langlois of Canada, selected in the third round (94th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
The Utah Hockey Club isn't doing anything unusual here with several players set to have their rights expire today. There are dozens of players from across the league who will also get the bad news that their rights have not been renewed today, and you can check out the full list below courtesy of Cap Friendly.
