Update on Roman Polak's injury and free agency.
Veteran defenseman in search of a contract after major injury.
HockeyFeed
After three tough seasons as a Toronto Maple Leaf veteran defenseman Roman Polak finally had a taste of success last season with the Leafs, but his ride was cut short we he suffered a major injury, one that prematurely ended his season.
It seems that it is that injury that has made National Hockey League general managers very cautious about offering the 31-year-old bruiser a new contract, however on Wednesday we got a bit of an update on Polak.
TSN's Kristen Shilton is reporting that Polak is currently on track with his recovery and very importantly he has suffered no setbacks in that recovery thus far, a good sign coming off such a harrowing injury.
However according to Shilton there continues to be concern due to the seriousness of his injury among NHL teams, and Polak may not receive any offers until the fall.
Given how nearly every season it seems there a teams who struggled with depth on the blue line, it seems likely that Polak will find a place to call home eventually, even if it does come a little later than he would like.
