The Boston Bruins may have won last night’s game against the Buffalo Sabres 7-1, they lost big when star forward Brad Marchand left the game injured and did not return.
Marchand was caught in a vulnerable position along the board while taking a hit from Sabres defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin midway through the second period. The Bruins ruled out Marchand with a lower body injury ahead of the last frame.
It did not take long for the fanbase to get worried about Marchand’s status, especially with the Bruins already without forwards Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno.
However, Bruins coach Jim Montgomery provided a quick update on Marchand’s status after the game and it did not appear to be as bad as first expected.
“I think we’re okay. We’re not positive yet.” Montgomery told reporters according to Conor Ryan of Boston.com.
To make things way more encouraging, on Friday morning, it is unexpectedly reported that Marchand’s removal from last night’s game was just precautionary and he will play against the New York Rangers this weekend.
This is very good news in Boston.
