Nick Foligno is one of the most beloved player in the National Hockey League, not only from a fans’ perspective but also coming for past and current teammates.

Before his rights were traded to the Chicago Blackhawks who went on to sign him to a one-year, $4 million contract ahead of unrestricted free agency this past summer, Foligno was a beloved member of the Boston Bruins and was a big part of the community. He was also an All-Star teammate as Edmonton Oilers analyst and former NHLer Louie DeBrusk revealed on the Western team’s broadcast.

We all know that Louie DeBrusk’s son, Jake DeBrusk, plays for the Bruins and when he needed help the most, his father recalls how Foligno and his wife were there for his son. He revealed how, when Jake DeBrusk was injured, Foligno and his wife made him food and brought it over to him during his recovery.

This is just one of the great stories that have come on on Foligno, who has became a true leader for the Blackhawks this season.

In his second game with Chicago, Foligno was back in Boston and it was an emotional return for the veteran forward. I can only imagine his former teammates, including DeBrusk were very pleased to see him again.

Ahead of that game, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery was asked about his former player and the bench boss only had great things to say about Foligno.

“Just an incredibly thoughtful teammate, person; can’t say enough good things about him to be honest,” a visibly emotional Montgomery said.

Louie DeBrusk’s story is one more proof of how classy and generous Foligno can be, and how great it is that he can lead by example in Chicago, especially with young players like star rookie Connor Bedard and defenseman Kevin Korchinski.
