Ullmark goes for empty netter, Penguins come back and tie it but it's after the buzzer!
An absolutely crazy finish at Fenway today!
HockeyFeed
Hockey fans were treated to an absolutely beautiful looking game this afternoon at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts between the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins.
To be fair, it was a game that didn't have a ton of flow or artistry to it though. Both teams battled the conditions a bit and played a pretty simple game that didn't exactly lend itself to many highlight reel moments. The Bruins earned a 2-1 win thanks largely to forward Jake DeBrusk, but it was in the final minute of play where fans got most of their entertainment in this game.
First up, Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark decided to go for it with the Penguins' netminder out. Ullmark went for an empty net goal, but came up pretty wide in his effort.
Check it out:
Flash forward about one minute on the clock and the Penguins ended up making a HUGE push to tie things late. In fact, Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin appeared to tie things in the final second but... he was about one second too late.
Check it out:
That's about as close as it gets!
Still, no biscuit for the Pens and so the Bruins earn themselves a tidy little 2-1 victory from Fenway.
